Kids take note: 50th anniversary International Bridge commemorative coloring e-book available!

February 27, 2013 — The International Bridge Administration (IBA) announced today that the 50th anniversary commemorative International Bridge coloring e-book is available at the bridge Web site: 2013 Bridge Kids Colouring Book.

This is an especially meaningful undertaking to commemorate last year’s 50th anniversary since the coloring e-book consists of line drawings of the bridge created by students, grades K through 6, from schools in both of our great cities,” said IBA General Manager Phil Becker.

Last year, the IBA celebrated 50 years of service to the traveling public, including many educational and community outreach initiatives. One initiative involved classroom presentations by IBA staff where students on both sides of the border were invited to create line drawings of the bridge based on the anniversary theme of “Celebrating International Friendship.”

Of the 125 submitted drawings, nine were awarded first-place and comprise the coloring e-book. Prizes were awarded to students for the top three drawings in each grade. The public can view all the original drawings on the bridge Web site.

The students did a great job, and their drawings’ basic concepts were maintained,” said Becker. “However, the first-place drawings were refined for line quality and drawing proportioning.

The commemorative coloring e-book is available online; and for a limited time only, 1,000 print copies will be available at the Bridge booth at the 2013 Spring Expo.
