May 13, 2016 — Motorists on the International Bridge in Sault Ste. Marie should expect brief delays Wednesday evening for the annual international Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) for Special Olympics.
LETR is coordinating the event with U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Canada Border Services Agency and the International Bridge Administration (IBA).
Torch runners will start at the Duty Free USA parking lot and cross the bridge from the U.S. to the Canadian side. Police and IBA staff will escort the runners across the bridge beginning at 9 p.m.
Bridge traffic will be maintained in both directions using the southbound bridge lane. Traffic will be escorted by IBA vehicles. Short delays are expected in each direction during the run, which is expected to be completed by 9:45 p.m.
The LETR is the largest annual grass-roots fundraiser for Special Olympics.
